Canadian methanol producer Methanex (Nasdaq: MEOH) announced it is “engaged with key stakeholders” to find a solution to the natural gas curtailments that have hit production levels in Trinidad.
The firm manages and operates two plants in the country: the Methanex-owned 850,000t/y Titan plant and the 1.7Mt/y Atlas plant, which is a JV between Methanex (63.1%) and BP Trinidad and Tobago (36.9%).
The company is experiencing some natural gas curtailments to its Titan facility due to upstream outages.
“There is no shortage of natural gas in Trinidad, I’ll make that as an opening statement. This is all about a contractual position.
