Well now, Elizabeth Warren, the woman tapped by the President to create the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, has stated that one of the first orders of business for the new Consumer Financial Protection Bureau is the create a one-page disclosure form for all home buyers.

Apparently the bureau has already drafted four separate forms that the industry and consumer watchdog groups will review before they establish which one will become the final version.

Peruvian power companies invested US$424mn in the second quarter, according to a report from the energy and mines ministry’s general power department.

Of 2Q11 investment, US$288mn went to generation. Private investment accounted for US$277mn, with Enersur topping the list at US$95.5mn. State investment in generation represented US$10.7mn.

On the distribution front, US$50.6mn was invested, with private and public investment representing US$30.3mn and US$20.3mn respectively. The bulk of private investment came from Edelnor, and Electronorte from the public sector.

In transmission, US$86.1mn was invested on the part of private companies led by Consorcio Transmantaro.

The CEOs of the nation’s leading banks, including Goldman Sachs and JPMorgan Chase, sent a letter to the White House and Congress on Thursday urging them to hurry up and reach a debt agreement.

In the letter, sent by the Financial Services Forum to President Obama and members of Congress, the CEOs said an agreement needs to be made this week, or else there will be “grave” consequences.

“A default on our nation’s obligations, or a downgrade of America’s credit rating, would be a tremendous blow to business and investor confidence — raising interest rates for everyone who borrows, undermining the value of the dollar, and roiling stock and bond markets — and, therefore, dramatically worsening our nation’s already difficult economic circumstances,” the letter stated. Brazil’s Sгo Paulo state government is planning a public-private partnership (PPP) for road and port works along the northern coast of the state, worth an estimated 4.8bn reais (US$3.09bn).

Work will be divided into two parts, the first of which entails widening 52.9km of Tamoios highway, also known as SP-99. The work is an extension of a previous project, according to a state government release.

“We decided to extend widening work past the city of Paraibuna by another 31km,” said Sгo Paulo governor Geraldo Alckmin.

Civil works for the 20-month project are scheduled to start in March, with completion set for around November 2013. <

Brazilian metal products manufacturer Paranapanema (Bovespa: PMAM3) is drawing up an inventory of its reserves in a bid to attract partners to explore for copper, tin, gold and silver, local news service Rio Negcios reported.

Paranapanema holds 140 mining rights to explore for these and “several other metals,” CEO Luiz Antonio Ferraz said.

The company is compiling a detailed survey of reserves located in Bahia, Par, Pernambuco and Rio Grande do Sul states, according to the executive.

The study, which aims to be completed later this year, will be used to negotiate joint exploration with small and medium-sized companies.
